Best Chicken Bone Broth Ever

Okey, i know i just posted a recipe, like literally yesterday, but i just have to share this incredible recipe with you guys because it is going to blow your minddd!! So, as you may know i love making my own bone broths, and we are avid chicken eater in this household so my freezer literally is jam packed with old chicken carcasses waiting to be made into bone broth. This time i wanted to experiment a little bit with some spices as my 2 previous batches of bone broth didn’t come out super delicious. Well, this one did! And HOW it did! I hope for the love of life that you will try this recipe out at home because it is going to knock your socks off!

Alright so this is what you’ll need:

  • 1 large chicken carcass

  • 1 yellow onion, leave peel on

  • 1 head of garlic leave peel on

  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges

  • 1 whole celery (or if your into the celery juice trend, make it a habit of cutting off the whole bottom piece and throw it in a bag in your freezer for broth making at a later time).

  • 4 bay leaves

  • 1 tbsp crushed juniper berries (crucial part of this recipe!)

  • 2 tbsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp celery seeds

  • 1 tsp fennel seeds

  • 2 whole pieces of cinnamon (also crucial)

  • lots of salt (i didn’t measure the salt, so just adjust according to your preference of saltyness)

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  1. Add all of the ingredients in a very large soup pot and fill with water untill all ingredients are covered and submerged. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a gentle zimmer for 12h.

  2. Once your 12h are up, strain the broth and discard of all the solids. Done! A little time consuming but SO worth it. Bone broth usually stays good in the fridge for 3-4 days, so just leave in the fridge what you need and freeze the rest.

I really hope you will enjoy this spicey delicious broth as much as i am right now (takes a sip while writing). The rain just keeps on pouring outisde so great time for some warming broths and soups. Some amazing benefits of making homemade bone broth inculde:

  • High collagen content, which is our most abundant protein in the body and helps maintain healthy skin, gut lining, nails, hair, and joints. Collagen is extremely important for healthy, smoothe skin, and a deficiency of this protein can lead to cellulites, which is a result of insufficient connective tissue.

  • Anti-inflammatory

  • Immune boosting

  • Joint protection from high collagen and gelatin content.

  • Healthy digestive tract, as collagen helps reduce inflammation and build a strong gut lining in our stomach and intestines.

  • Rich in potassium and glycine (and sulfur from the onion and garlic), which help support cellular and liver detoxification. Bone broth also contains and promotes production of glutathione, a powerful phase 2 detoxification agent in the body, which removes fatsoluble compounds, such as the extremely toxic heavy metals mercury and lead.
